About Me
My name is Andrea. I am a Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant™ with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology minoring in sociology. I was born and mostly raised Calgarian. I am a mom to 2 teenaged man-children, a wife, a daughter, a sister and a friend. My husband and I celebrated 25 years doing life together this year! I am a helper, I love being around people, but also need my alone time. I love animals, except for birds and reptiles (much to the boy’s chagrin). Well, birds are okay, and some are even majestic and beautiful, from a distance lol. I’m funny and witty - even when the teens don’t think so. I am kind and compassionate, and fiercely loyal. I like all things natural and non-toxic. I’ve been called a little crunchy, a little hippie and a little witchy by those that know and love me. I love the outdoors; camping, snowboarding, hiking/walking. If it’s outdoors in nature, but not too hardcore, especially near mountains or involving a campfire - I AM IN! I love food of all kinds and am willing to try most things at least once, unless it involves gluten or soy, as those are a no go for this girl.
In the process of working together, you will share a lot of very personal details about yourself and your habits. This is not a diet or a quick fix. It is also not an eat this not that. This is not surface work – we are digging deep and getting to the root of imbalances that contribute to making us feel less than awesome. This can be challenging for some as it requires a certain vulnerability and transparency that makes many of us uncomfortable for various reasons. But nothing ever grows in our comfort zone, so in the spirit of vulnerability, and because self work always requires vulnerability to be truly successful, I’ll go first! My Approach
Small changes made regularly add up to progress. My goal isn’t to walk in and upend your life leaving you feeling overwhelmed and destined for "failure". I approach holistic nutrition from a continuum perspective – "Good, Better, Best". Some people will be ready to go all in and make big swift changes. Others, not so much. That’s perfectly okay! Much like how our bodies are all unique, so too is our readiness and capacity for change. I meet you where you are at, get to know you and how you live your life and help you to make small changes, tweaks or swaps that over time will help to support your body, mind, and spirit in working towards your health and wellness goals.
I am not here to judge, but I am here to educate you and support you. I believe that if we understand what is going on within our body a shift happens, and our motivation begins to shift from external to more internal. This is where the magic happens; when we start to listen to our bodies and take into consideration that many common symptoms and lifestyle choices are interconnected, suddenly we don’t HAVE to make changes we GET to make them. Eating isn’t just something we HAVE to do; we GET to do it in an intentional way in order to nourish ourselves.
There are a few tools I use to facilitate this process. They are lengthy, but they are an important roadmap to give me an overall picture of you!
LAF Form:
This form is the nitty gritty about you. It is important, because it helps to give me a glimpse into your life and some of the things that can impact how we are feeling and how our body is functioning at its most basic level.
NSP Form:
This in-depth series of questions provides me with a number score for each of 10 body systems. These are common symptoms that we experience that provides me with insight as to which body systems may out of balance or missing key nutrients in the diet to help it perform optimally.
I look at the top 3 body systems and the client's goals (identified in the LAF form) and create a meal plan and food list that are high in nutrients to support those top systems as well as lifestyle recommendations and sometimes some basic supplement recommendations to help us start to regain balance.
